Helping Colombia's Invasive Hippos Find New Homes

IMG_0398.jpeg

As the HIPPO is our youth baseball/softball company's mascot, we are launching our brand with the intent of funding the “Hippo Hop”. An active effort to relocate and support almost 200 of Pablo Escobar’s infamous, invasive “Cocaine Hippos” which were left behind to multiply since the 1980’s when he moved them from Africa to his sanctuary located at Hacienda Napoles.

MOVING PABLO'S WEIGHT

Not often do we have an opportunity to help change the world. To take part in fixing, solving, changing a historical issue. The opportunity is now. That is the reason we founded BloodSweat™. We capture and utilize the magic of the Hippopotamus’s mysterious, naturally made “blood sweat”, as inspiration for creating BloodSweat™ and BloodSweat Drip™ apparel and scrub line.

The Hippopotamus secretes two unbelievable acids through its 16” skin! Aptly named; Hipposudoric acid and Norhipposudoric acid, they combine to produce “blood sweat”. It has five properties. It functions as a natural Bug repellant, Antibiotic, Antiseptic, Lotion, and Sunscreen, or BAALS!

The hippos have multiplied to 8 colonies, comprising almost 200 adorable, yet territorial and dangerous hippos currently residing in Colombia. Globally the average reproduction rate is about 7% per year; however, in Colombia, the hippos are growing at a rate of 14.5% per year with a lack of droughts and predators with current predictions suggesting the number of hippos could grow to between 400 and 800 by 2050.

We are actively involved in the current project which is relocating the invasive “Cocaine Hippos”. Sixty are set to travel to The Greens Zoological Rescue & Rehabilitation Kingdom in Gujarat, India. While 10 are moving to The Ostok Animal Protection and Sanctuary in Sinaloa, Mexico. The hippos are being trained by Ostok’s team to enter the moving crates willingly.

We recognize and support Ostok’s efforts aimed at removing culling or euthanasia as an option as we strive to complete this mission. This project has a finish line. We are going to change the world.

When this project is completed, we will continue work on our early developmental softball and baseball programs, Hippos in Training, or H.i.T. We are a hot, new humanitarian organization that supports children, animals and our planet.
